Morocco in 8 Days: Imperial Fes to Marrakech via the Dunes
This route crosses Morocco from the imperial north to the Red City, with the Sahara in between. Land in Casablanca, see the Hassan II Mosque if your flight allows, and sleep in Rabat. Walk the Roman streets of Volubilis on the way to Fes, then spend a full day in its medieval medina with a private guide. From Fes the road climbs through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas to Erg Chebbi, where a camel ride at sunset brings you to your camp.
After the desert you head west through the Todra Gorge and the kasbahs of the south, with a night in the palm grove of Skoura before the High Atlas. Fes and Marrakech each have two nights, so the guided days never feel rushed, and your first evening is in calm Rabat rather than busy Casablanca. Depending on the package you choose, you stay in high-end 4-star and 5-star hotels and riads, in boutique 5-star riads, or in the finest properties at each stop, with a luxury camp in the dunes.
